The EMBODY PILATES® TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM provides everything a Pilates instructor needs to know, and then some. In workshops taught by Dixie Shulman and Elizabeth Cassidy, discover how to help your clients (and yourself) truly embody the art of Pilates movements. Our comprehensive program is classically based and embraces contemporary thought. Anatomy, the instructors thinking process, and the interconnections of the entire Pilates method are emphasized.
Learn to teach the entire Pilates repertoire on the Reformer, Mat, Cadillac, Chairs, Barrels, Ped-O-Pull, Magic Circle and Foot Corrector.
Learn to clearly see each individual body in front of you, observing the imbalances and understanding the thought processes behind structuring the most effective workouts for each person.
Learn to modify exercises for people with various injuries or conditions – of all ages, sizes, and shapes, as well as how to challenge the most advanced student or professional dancer or athlete.
You will have the opportunity for observation, independent workouts/study, and practice teaching.
Earning the Embody Pilates Teacher Training Certificate shows that you have completed all the requirements of the comprehensive program and passed the written, teaching and practical tests. At this point you are qualified, and prepared to pass with flying colors, the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) test. Please review our Curriculum and Requirements page.
Why should I become PMA® Certified Pilates Teacher? This is how you can call yourself a Certified Pilates Instructor. Professional certification, (or in some fields, a license), administered by an independent third party, is a cornerstone in any established profession. The PMA has created the only psychometrically validated, third party professional certification exam in the Pilates field. The PMA aims to create a critical mass of professionally certified Pilates teachers in order to establish the teaching of Pilates worldwide as a profession.
